17 Week Picture

May 30th: Boston Baked Beans!!

17 Weeks old and off on a BIG adventure!! This past week, the Pediatric Academic Society had its big conference in Boston, and I got accepted to present a paper... ie FREE TRIP TO BOSTON!!! So Rich and I decided to make it our first family trip, and bring Blakely along for the ride!! For those of you who have never flown with an infant.... it is NOT a vacation, it is HARD WORK!! I have had more restful nights in the ICU, then on a trip with a baby!! Whew!! Thankfully, I had my sweet husband along for the trip, and he is super helpful. We had so much fun exploring Boston together, and Blakely had the best time getting to be with Mommy and Daddy all weekend!!!

17 Weeks Old Shot.... getting too big, too fast!!!
Highlights from the Week:
-Blakely got her "wings" on her first airplane ride!!
-Blakely's very first vacation to BOSTON
-Obsessed with the baby in the mirror, they are totally BFFs!!
-First "sick day"... inner ear issues/gas after flying to Boston
-Snacking next to Paul Revere's Grave

FUN FACT: Boston has over 50 Dunkin Donuts in the downtown area.... I don't know about America, but Boston certainly "runs on Dunkin." HA!

Picture Highlights from the Week:

Blakely and her Daddy at the airport. Ready for take off!!

On the plane, Blakely did what Blakely does best.... drool and stool!! She soaked threw 2 bibs in flight with drool, and then she "blew" thru 2 sleeper with 2 major "blow outs" on the plane!!

Family Photo... in our room at the Omni Parker House.

When we arrived in our room, the room service immediately brought us champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. Richard kept refusing them, afraid that we would have to pay for them.... but then, we discovered they were a gift from Rich's parents!! So sweet!! It was 2pm, and we hadn't eaten since 5am at the house... we we're half starved and crazy!! Needless to say, this special treat really hit the spot!

Blakely liked them too!! (No, I did NOT really let her try one!)

Morning Big Girl!! You and Daddy both have sleepy eyes!!

"Baby Blakely, Baby Blakely... riding backwards on a duck Baby Blakely!!"

We ate dinner at the oldest established restaurant in Boston, Durgin-Park, for some authentic Yankee cooking. This is place is super old, established in the early 1900s!! This is THE PLACE to get baked beans in Boston, but we did not like them. My Mimi's baked beans are WAY better (or even Bush's Baked Beans!) We had delicious clam chowder, pot roast and Cream Pie!!

Saturday we made a trip to little Italy! It was so... well... Italian! I felt like I was on a movie set, and I swear I saw THE "Godfather!" We stopped in to 100 year old bakery ironically called "Modern Pastry" and had the most amazing Cannoli!!

Blakely loved being outside and seeing all the different people!! She loved riding in her Bjorn with the wind in her face!! She would flap her arms up and down, kick her legs and talk non-stop!! She was crazy!

Blakely was such a good little traveler! She did amazingly well on the plan, and didn't even cry once! She rolled with the punches, and adjusted quickly to new setting and new routines! She is the best baby, and I cannot wait for future family fun and adventures together!!
