Mountain Trip Part II

June 28th- July 5th: Our Little Hiker

Our first full day, we decided to go and explore the great outdoors and take our little adventurers for their first hike!

I had failed to pack warm enough clothes for the girls, so we started the morning off in the 50s with our jammie shirts under our clothes! Oops!

The view from the top of Black Rock Mountain.

KE wishing she was a little bit bigger and she could go with Daddy too!

Headed out on the first trail: The Black Rock Mountain Lake Trail.

Our littlest hiker smelling the wild flower that Daddy picked for her.

Keeping our little hiker on the trail was sometimes a little challenging... she wanted to pick every flower and follow every butterfly. She is our little nature lover.

Our second trail of the day was very challenging our little hiker. 1/4 mile straight down steep slopes and steps, and then 1/4 mile straight back up! Blakely did so well, and she never complained.

The trail was called the Ada-Hi Falls trail, and this was the impressive waterfall at the bottom. Bahaha. Not much to look at, but the walk was great!

On Friday, it was pouring rain so we thought why not hike to some waterfalls since we were wet anyways.
This one was the Bridal Veil Falls outside of the Highlands. It was literally a drive- thru. Blakely loved it! We would drive under it, and Blakely would yell "Again!" So we would check the road to make sure no one was waiting, and we would drive under it again. She loved it!!

Next we hiked down to Dry Falls. This waterfall is so amazing; the path actually goes behind the waterfall.

A view from the top!

Behind the falls.

Cave girl!

Dry Falls... not so dry.

This little squirt loves umbrellas!

Our last day, we drove down to Tallulah Gorge State Park and walked the Shortline Trail.

The Shortline trail is an old train track that has been paved. In 1900 when the were laying the tracks, they had to use dynamite to blow up part of the mountain to let the train pass on level ground. When you walk the trail it is cool (like a basement) and you pass between two walls of rock.

"Mommy! Daddy! I have my own walking stick!"

Rich found some wild Blackberries.

KE thought they were delicious!

Rich showed Blakely how to tell if they were ripe and how to pick them off the bush.

Blakely loved eating the wild blackberries. "Yummy in my tummy!!!"

Blakely loves all things in nature. She could have spent an hour in 10x10ft area. She wanted to stop and examine every rock, stick, mushroom, creek, river, bug that could be seen.

Running on the suspension bridge!

I still can't get over how cold it was! We were wearing jackets and jeans in JULY!!!

This girl had the best vacation ever! Enjoying nature and being with family... what more could a girl ask for?

Such a magical vacation in every way!! I can't wait to come back next year!!
