Aw, Sugar, Sugar!!

December 10th: Adventures in Baking with Toddlers

What is the messiest thing you can imagine doing with a toddler??? Ok... now add in some frosting and sprinkles!!

In early December, Alyssa was still VERY, VERY pregnant, and so we decided to continue with "regularly scheduled programming" until the day that Walker made his debut! So.... why not go crazy and attempt to make and decorate sugar cookies with toddlers! HA! This was very fun, but OH SO messy!

We let them participate in EVERY step... but made sure we cut some corners with bag cookies and bought frosting.

My "little helper" hard at work.

Unfortunately only have one kid sized apron... so this is my apron wrapped around and around and around Banks. He loved it! LOL

They loved every step of the process...you can already see my kitchen going crazy.

It was so much fun to cook with these two cuties!!

The WHOLE month of December, the kiddos have had non-stop runny noses.... so these were going to be just for them to enjoy. No sharing germs!

They were so proud of the shapes they made.

My favorite moment was when some flour tickled Banks' nose. He leaned back, grabbed the mixing bowl with two hands, pitched forward, and sneezed straight into the batter. I looked at Alyssa and said "THAT batch is going to YOUR house!"

They did a great job; I was genuinely impressed with how they did.

The plot thickens....

She is so careful while she decorates.

I love the differences between Banks and Blakely... especially during arts and crafts. Blakely carefully placing one sprinkle on at a time; Banks dumping a whole bag of M&M's on one cookie.

I also love the difference between Banks and Blakely with eating. In the time Banks had consumed this whole cookie, Blakely has maybe nibbled a little bit from the side of her cookie.

All told, the kids probably made and decorated cookies for an hour....

...the clean up took about 3 hours!! Ha!
Worth it... totoally worth it!

TYPHOID COOKIES ANYONE?!?!?
